The Crow Canyon Country Club is an ideal summer wedding venue. Situated against the foothills of Mount Diablo in the East Bay area, this beautiful venue provides a serene ambiance amidst giant redwood trees, lush, sprawling hills, and a neatly manicured 18-hole golf course. Add in lakeside “Pocohontas” style willow trees and a meandering cart path through rolling green pastures, and you’ve got a photographer’s dream shoot.
We shot Kristen and Ryan’s summer wedding at the Crow Canyon Country Club in June of 2019 and were thrilled with what we had to work with. The ceremony took place right on the golf course, against the hot white sand of the sand traps and a picturesque lake typical of country clubs in the Bay Area. Kristen looked stunning in her dazzling white dress, complemented perfectly by the soft pink and white roses that made up her bouquet.
Ryan cried and the crowd swooned as her mom walked her down the aisle, stealing the show back from their faithful golden retriever who paved the way with a leisurely stroll among the rose petals that littered the aisle.
Perhaps our favorite shot of the day (besides the golden retriever) was the first kiss. If you haven’t seen that photo yet, scroll down a bit! It’s STUNNING. A passionate, fully engrossed couple. Towering redwoods and a beautiful lake. Friends and family beaming with approval. The perfect combination of colors. It doesn’t get much better than that.
After the ceremony, we had the opportunity to run around the golf course with the couple and their bridal party. The lighting provided by the hot sun and shade of the redwoods was perfect, and the happy couple got to enjoy a few quiet moments together before heading inside to Crow Canyon’s elegant grand ballroom for the reception. Breathtaking views overlooking the golf course were provided by floor to ceiling windows, and the Crow Canyon wedding staff did an incredible job decorating tables, drapes, and the dance floor. The chandeliers and the crystal clear glassware adorning the tables played off each other perfectly, adding even more flare to Kristen’s dress and the drapes around her. The moment was perfectly set by this black and white of the couple’s first dance, and you can see what we mean when we say the chandeliers worked perfectly for setting the mood.
And then...it was party time. The bridal party was SO much fun and the music kept the guests dancing late into the night. We love capturing our couples in their most elegant moments, but sometimes it’s even more fun when everyone lets loose. The dance floor was packed and the groomsmen had a blast at the photo booth.
Then came the sparklers. This was easily our favorite shot of the reception. You can see the sheer joy on Kristen and Ryan’s faces as they strode out under the hot golden fireworks, a perfect end to a perfect night.
